![]() Hope this was of help, keep at it Commander XCOM is the opposite, since theres no timer you can take your time analyzing. Its about the challenge, but you can prepare for it.įor a background on rts, all about making decisions quick. You might be overwhelmed if its like your first experience but im sure youll be fine.Īnd ironman I dont really have a problem with, the choice between being able to save scum and literally not being able to is yours alone, and thankfully we got choices, like extending the avatar counter, also one first playthrough you should have it on, just so you can get a good feeling of the challenge.Īnd once youre comfortable with how your doing, maybe youll go back mid game to the menu and bump up de difficulty. And honestly, for the Reapers alone killing the Chosen is worth the trouble. Halfway through my vanilla run that I left for a bit I decided to try WOTC, some new things like stress on the soldiers is annoying but thats about it. For this id say that, save scumming, at least on first playhrough in any is not only recomended but sometimes necessary so one can learn the stuff. So lemme tell you a couple of things I managed to grasp through my little experience.įirst of all XCOM is about the challenge, so even normal is difficult to newbies. I can say that even of normal it wad quite a challenge to me, being relatively new to the genre. Or if you think I should just go through the game with autosave let me know - I'm not sure how things will turn out just relying on autosave.Īs someone who has only completed one game (lmao). If you highly recommend ironman, but perhaps on rookie then let me know. Starting with the base game, then I'll go to WotC. I am really bad at this game, but it looks like a lot of fun. It feels less coherent and 'real' for a game when you can essentially cheat around saves. I love autosave and having the game have standardized saving, so you're never wondering if this save is a save scum or this and that. I get that, I mean I hate when games have the option of save scumming. Ironman mode is suggested by many, as it to them is the "true experience". I failed the first mission on veteran several times, before actually beating it with only 2 soldiers alive. I do play some RTS games like AoE II and CoH2, but the only turn based tactical games I can think of is advance wars which I played very long ago. I'd consider myself pretty inexperienced when it comes to turn based tactical games.
